Exploring sexual orientation and gender identity within the restored gospel of Jesus Christ can be challenging and complex. It can also be full of love and a place where the Lord has promised us faith to move our personal mountains.

The Annual North Star Conference is a spiritually uplifting place for LGBTQ+ Saints to connect with others, share experiences, hear uplifting messages and find support for individuals, parents, spouses, families, those who love them, and church leaders. You are not alone in your desire to find balance, knowledge, and support. The North Star Conference is an invaluable resource for individuals who experience same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria and wish to stay on the covenant path and live a Christ-centered life filled with peace and joy.

Join us for an inspirational and revelatory experience as we gather together as a community of LGBTQ+ Saints, family members, friends, and church leaders to learn, grow, and grow our “Faith to Move Mountains” through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Keynote speakers, musical performers, and breakout sessions are planned to uplift, inspire, and support those with Same Sex Attraction, Gender Identity, Youth, Parents and Family, Spouses, and Church Leaders. Annual Conference tickets include all day sessions Friday and Saturday and lunch. Our Opening Social on Thursday evening, June 20, 2024, is open to everyone and includes a special first timers session. Stay tuned, our full conference agenda is coming soon.

Apply for a Sponsorship

At North Star we understand the desire for all who want to attend to be present at the annual North Star Conference. For that reason, we have created an opportunity for those who may not be able to afford the entire cost of the conference to receive a sponsorship in exchange for volunteering up to 4 hours of your time during the conference weekend. If you might be in need of this opportunity, please fill out the following application form and a North Star representative will be in contact with you. Thank you!

QPR Suicide Prevention Training

In this break-out session, Debra Coe will present information related to suicide and the need for training efforts in suicide prevention. Debra will be training attendees in the Question Persuade Refer (QPR) model for gatekeeper interventions. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and then learn how to offer buddy aid.

This pre-conference breakout workshop is open to anyone who would like to attend.  Conference registration is not required.  Feel free to bring a friend to learn more on how you can recognize someone in need and offer support and refer them to get professional help.

This training will be held at 4917 South, Viewmont Street (2085 E.), Holladay, Utah, from 3:00-5:00pm (prior to the Conference Opening Social at the same location) on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Additionally, conference break out sessions are also recorded and are available for purchase during registration ($25), at the conference ($35), or after the conference ($40). This is a great way to experience more of the conference, since while attending in person, you are only able to attend one session at a time. We anticipate recordings will be available approximately one month after the conference.  For those who have purchased recordings, you will receive an email with a unique code/link to access these them.

Information for Church Leaders

We are so excited to have you join us. We hope that you will feel the spirit teach you as you learn more about the topics you attend throughout the conference. Although we will have some sessions designed specifically for church leaders, we encourage you to attend any sessions that you feel drawn to. Additionally, sessions geared specifically to church leaders will focus on how leaders can better learn about, understand, and minister to those within their stewardship. Many of the sessions throughout the conference will help provide insight and understanding of SSA/GI/LGBT members in your congregation. We encourage you to look through the conference sessions on the website prior to the conference.

We would also love to have you join us for our Opening Social, Thursday evening. This event fosters friendship, community, and service. As you serve (and eat) alongside the North Star community, you’ll have the opportunity to hear stories from real people going through real challenges, as well as success stories from individuals you meet.

Saturday evening is the “Experience Sharing Session.” This is another wonderful chance to learn from and meet those going through the same kinds of experiences as members in your ward or stake. Please join us for this session. In years past, this is the most spiritually filled session of the conference.

Available Church Leader Tickets: Full Conference, Friday Only, and Saturday Only

Youth Program

The Conference Youth Program is always amazing. North Star understands that the experience of youth today is very different than the past. We want to help provide tools to navigate the challenges life brings to our growing youth membership and their families. This Youth Conference is open to all youth ages 13-17 who experience SSA/LGBT feelings, have a family member or friend in the community or simply want to learn more.

This year the Youth Conference will look a little different than in years past. This year, the parents and the youth will participate in this program together. The program includes times that the youth and parents meet separately, and other portions where the parents and the youth will be learning side by side. Our goal is to provide a program where the parents and the youth are learning together and leave the conference with a shared experience, even during those times when they are separated. The primary goal is to provide experiences for both parents and youth to deepen their connections within themselves, with each other, and with their Heavenly Parents.

Because the Youth Conference will involve the parents full-time, the parent ticket is the same price as the youth ticket, and youth tickets are only purchased in combination with a parent ticket. If you have more than one youth, you may want to purchase more than one parent ticket. (There will be times when the parents and youth are paired up so you may want to have both parents present.) If you have more youth attending than you have parents, or if a parent has a commitment somewhere else in the larger conference, adjustments can always be made.

An overview of the Youth Program will be available here once it has been finalized.
