North Star International ("North Star," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website, www.northstarsaints.org, and all affiliated domains and subdomains owned by North Star (collectively, the "Website"). Information We Collect

We collect personally identifiable information (PII) that you voluntarily provide to us when you register for the Annual Conference, Organized Events, or make a donation. The PII we collect may include your name, address, phone number, email address, demographic, birthdate, and age range. We do not collect sensitive PII such as social security numbers, credit card numbers, or other identification numbers, though some of the third-party payment processors and information providers may do so (see below).

Use of Your Information

We use the PII you provide to:

  • Process and manage your conference and event registration

  • Process your donations

  • Send you email communications related to North Star activities and events, either using our own email services such as, but not limited to, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or commercial email providers such as, but not limited to, MailChimp or Squarespace. We provide a mechanism for removal from email communications.

  • Improve our Website and services using analytic data

  • Approve access to private online community groups

Disclosure of Your Information

We may share your PII with:

  • Payment processors, including but not limited to PayPal, Stripe, Square, DonorBox, and Eventbrite, to process your donations, conference and event registration and fees

  • DonorSnap, a third-party vendor that helps us manage donations, and possibly other similar platforms. 

  • Intuit, as donor information is stored in Quickbooks Online, and possibly other online accounting services, including services to help us file and manage our tax filings at the state and federal level.

  • Eventbrite, or similar services, for conference and event registration and ticket sales and management

  • Squarespace, Microsoft, and Google, and other similar services as they store and process PII for our email campaigns, conferences and events, and website hosting.

  • Other websites, online communities, and online or cloud-based services as the need arises and from time to time.

  • Conference and Event organizers

Each of these websites and service providers have their own privacy and data protection policies. We are not responsible for data breaches or privacy violations which may occur with any of our third-party service providers, conference and event organizers, or other independent contractors we work with. 

We may also disclose your PII if required by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with legal processes, respond to legal claims, or protect the rights, property, or safety of North Star, our members, or the public.

Data Retention and Destruction

We retain your PII for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. We have implemented reasonable measures to protect your PII from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your PII, we cannot guarantee its absolute security, especially as a non-profit organization with no salaried staff.

We encourage individuals with access to PII not to download such information to their personal computers. In the event that PII is downloaded, we request that it be securely deleted once it is no longer needed.

You have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of the PII we hold about you

  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete PII

  • Request the deletion of your PII

  • Object to the processing of your PII

  • Withdraw your consent to the processing of your PII

International Users

The Website is hosted in the United States and is intended for users located within the United States. If you access the Website from the European Union, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure that differ from United States laws, please be advised that through your continued use of the Website, you are transferring your PII to the United States and you consent to that transfer.

We will take steps to ensure that your PII receives an adequate level of protection in the jurisdictions in which we process it, including through appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or the use of binding corporate rules.

The Website may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over the privacy practices or the content of those websites. The Website is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect PII from children under 13.
