Monica and her husband, James, reside in Mesa, Arizona. They have five wonderful children and a beautiful daughter-in-law. In 2018, their second oldest child came to them and shared with them that he experienced gender dysphoria. Two years later, their daughter also confided in them regarding her same-sex attraction. Supporting her children as they navigate SSA and Gender Identity has been an amazing, transformative experience for Monica and her family. Monica is grateful for being introduced to North Star early on in their journey. The connections she has made with wonderful parents and others in the community has been life changing. Monica is passionate about ministering to other parents of transgender children in her local community. Her hope is that no parent will feel alone, no child will go unloved or unsupported, and that families will draw strength from the Savior and know that there is hope and peace on the horizon. More recently, Monica has been begun advocating for LGBTQ rights and non-discrimination while also supporting religious freedoms at the city, state, and national levels.
