Heidi was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah.  She and her husband Daniel met in high school and felt an instant connection.  They became fast friends and maintained their friendship through college and throughout their missions to Hungary (Daniel) and Finland (Heidi).   Their friendship developed into romance and they were married in December of 2004.  In November of 2020, Daniel disclosed to Heidi his experience with same-sex attraction.  Prior to Daniel’s disclosure, Heidi felt prompted to return to school for a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  Her prompting led to great preparation for the news her husband would share and provided essential lessons on intimacy, relationships, and sexuality which proved invaluable as Heidi and Daniel worked through the challenges associated with knowing one another more fully.  It has been a tremendous blessing to share this unique experience with each other and others. In early stages of discovering how to navigate a mixed-orientation marriage, Daniel and Heidi found tremendous strength in the stories shared within the North Star community.  They have a great desire to offer strength to others. It is this desire that has led Heidi to serve in the North Star community.  She believes in the mission of North Star and has come to see that the greatest healing and hope can come only in and through the Savior, Jesus Christ.  Heidi and Daniel reside with their five children in Omaha, Nebraska where Heidi also practices therapy.
